Huston-Tillotson is located
just east of downtown Austin. The campus borders are
E. 7th St., Chicon St., E. 11th St., and Chalmers Ave.

From the North
(1) From I35 southbound, take Exit 234B, 8th - 3rd Sts./
Huston-Tillotson University in downtown Austin. Turn
left (east) off the access road on 7th Street. Go past
the State Cemetery to Chicon, which borders the Huston-Tillotson
campus. Turn left on Chicon and left into the campus.
(2) To avoid rush-hour traffic, here is an alternate
route. From I35 southbound just north of Georgetown,
exit on Texas 130. Take Texas 130 southbound several
miles (past US 290) and exit at FM 969. Turn west
towards Austin, go approximately 7 miles, turn left on
Chicon, and turn right into the Huston-Tillotson campus
off Chicon between 11th and 7th Streets. Note
that Texas 130 is a toll road. You will have to pay
tolls if you do not have a toll tag by going to the cash
booths, or you can pay slightly more by mail if you
drive through the toll tag lanes on the main freeway.
From the South
From I35 northbound, take Exit 234C, 6th - 12th
Sts./Huston-Tillotson University in downtown Austin.
Turn right (east) off the access road on 7th Street. Go
past the State Cemetery to Chicon, which borders the
Huston-Tillotson campus. Turn left on Chicon and left
into the campus.
From the East
(1) From US 290 (which enters Austin on the north side
of town), exit south on I35 and follow directions above
for coming from the north. An alternative route to
avoid some of the rush hour traffic is this: exit from
US 290 on US 183 southbound, exit at Martin Luther King
(MLK)/FM 969, turn right (west) on Martin Luther King
and drive about 3.3 miles, turn left on Chicon, and turn
right into the Huston-Tillotson campus between 11th and
7th Streets. Note that US 183 can be slow in the late
afternoon, but is generally not as slow as I35.
(2) From Texas 71, exit north on I35 and follow
directions for coming from the south. An alternative
route to avoid rush hour traffic is this: exit from
Texas 71 at Texas 130 northbound (towards Waco—this
is a toll road), exit west at FM 969 which will
eventually turn into Martin Luther King and go about
7.7. miles, turn left on Chicon, and turn right into the
Huston-Tillotson campus between 11th and 7th Streets.
From the West
(1) From US 290 (which enters Austin on the south side
of town), turn north on I35 and follow the directions
for coming from the south.
(2) From US 183, exit southbound (towards San Antonio)
on I35, go south on I35 and follow the directions for
coming from the north. An alternative route to avoid
some rush hour traffic is this: continue past I35 on US
183, exit at Martin Luther King (MLK)/Fm 969, turn right
(west) on Martin Luther King and go about 3.3. miles,
turn left on Chicon, and turn right into the Huston-Tillotson
campus between 11th and 7th Streets. Note that US 183
can be slow in the late afternoon, but is generally not
as slow as I35.
