Stepping-up in response to HIV
The HIV epidemic is growing in
the U.S. and around the world. What is happening
where you are? How can we all do our part to
stop this very stoppable disease? We'll learn
about HIV, receive a briefing on the latest
trends and engage a discussion about stepping-up
as people of faith to effectively respond.

Immigrants, Justice, and
Community: The Critical Role of the Church in
the Pivotal Civil Rights Issue of the 21st
Century
This workshop will discuss and clarify the
current state of efforts to meet the
challenges arising from the growing presence of
immigrants and migrant
workers – locally, nationally, and globally.
Focusing on concrete actions that
congregations and people of faith are
undertaking, we will address these
challenges and build a broader sense of
community and workplace justice,
based on a vision of shared prosperity and
encompassing all people regardless
immigration status or
nationality.

How to Talk about Race
Last year, the UCC called on its
churches to have a sacred conversation about
race, but white Americans all too often lack the
vocabulary not to mention the opportunity to
talk about it, leaving them all too ill-equipped
to have such a conversation. Accusations of
racism only shut the conversation down, and we
end up going nowhere. This workshop will teach
the basics for talking about the reality of race
and racial privilege that affect all people of
every color in the United States today.

Love Ye Therefore the Stranger...
For 30 years a small group of
families and individuals have been welcoming
newly-arrived refugees to rural Comer, Georgia.
Focusing on this community, Jubilee Partners, we
will explore the needs of immigrants and the
growing movement called "the New Monasticism."
Can you envision your church -- perhaps in
partnership with others--taking on such a
mission?
