Annual Meeting
Service Project / School Kit!

The Planning Committee for the
2008 Conference Annual Meeting has adopted the School Kits for
Church World Service as a service project. School kits give children
in impoverished schools, refugee camps, or other difficult settings
some of the basic tools for learning. In order for this project to
be a success, the committee is hoping for participation by all the
churches of South Central Conference.
The components of the kit are:
One pair of blunt scissors (rounded tip)
Three 70-count spiral or tape-bound pads of 8" x 10-1/2" ruled paper
or pads with 200-210 sheets of ruled paper. (Please do not provide
loose-leaf or filler paper.)
One 30-centimeter ruler (12")
One hand-held pencil sharpener
One large eraser
Six new pencils with erasers
One box of 24 crayons (only 24)
One 12" x 14" to 14" x 16" finished size cotton cloth bag with cloth
handles
Pack all items inside the cloth bag. See
Church World Service website for a School Kit bag pattern.
School Kit value: $13 - Processing/Shipping Cost $2 per kit.
We ask that you bring your kits or the contents for the kits along
with you to the annual meeting at Cathedral of Hope in Dallas, Texas
this June.
We ask that churches who have the ability to sew the bags make some
extra in case there are some who would rather provide the contents
only.
Barbara and Jim Forcher are project coordinators for this project.
Please contact them with questions at bforcher@aol.com or 1485 West
Roy Drive, Robinson, TX 76706, or 254.662.6151.
We are excited about the possibilities of this project and hope for
great participation from our churches.
